Once again, left-wing extremists who are taking over the Democratic Party are proving that it is they, not conservatives, who are blatant bigots and racists.
Several groups at the University of California-Berkeley, one of the most Marxist campuses in the country, have recently adopted a bylaw, resolving to “not invite speakers that have expressed interest and continue to hold views, host, sponsor or promote events in support of Zionism, the apartheid state of Israel and the occupation of Palestine,” according to the New York Post.
Critics immediately pounced on the anti-Semetic declarations by the nine groups, saying the bylaw creates ‘Jewish Free Zones’ on campus. The policy also effectively bans the university’s Jewish dean, Erwin Chemerinsky, from speaking, The Post added.
“Berkeley develops Jewish-free zones,” writer Kenneth Marcus wrote in an opinion column for the Jewish News Syndicate.
“If it wasn’t so frightening, one might be able to recognize the irony in the sight of campus progressives trying so hard to virtue signal that they fall victim to a deep moral shame,” he added.
“It is troubling to broadly exclude a particular viewpoint from being expressed,’ he told the Jewish News of Northern California. “Taken literally, this would mean that I could not be invited to speak because I support the existence of Israel, though I condemn many of its policies.”
The bylaw states that the goal of the policy is to ban supporters of Israel while “protecting the safety and welfare of Palestinian students” — though none of these groups can cite any credible evidence that Jewish and pro-Israel students are harassing or otherwise harming Palestinian students. So this is just another excuse to justify their own bigotry.
Some of the groups who have adopted the bylaw include Berkeley Law Muslim Student Association, Middle Eastern and the North African Law Students Association — all organizations that again prove it is the left, not the right, that focuses primarily on race and ethnicity.
“These are not groups that represent only a small percentage of the student population. They include Women of Berkeley Law, Asian Pacific American Law Students Association, Middle Eastern and North African Law Students Association, Law Students of African Descent and the Queer Caucus,” Marcus continued in his column.
He added:
It is now a century since Jewish-free zones first spread to the San Francisco Bay Area (“No Dogs. No Jews.”). Nevertheless, this move is frightening and unexpected, like a bang on the door in the night.
Berkeley law students are not the first to exclude Zionists. At the State University of New York at New Paltz, activists drove two sexual assault victims out of a survivor group for being Zionists. At the University of Southern California, they drove Jewish student government vice president Rose Ritch out of office, threatening to “impeach [her] Zionist ass.” At Tufts University, they tried to oust student judiciary committee member Max Price from the student government judiciary committee because of his support for Israel.
Marcus goes on to point out the obvious: That ‘anti-Zionism’ is really thinly veiled anti-Semitism.
“Using ‘Zionist’ as a euphemism for ‘Jew’ is nothing more than a confidence trick. Like other forms of Judeophobia, it is an ideology of hate, treating Israel as the ‘collective Jew’ and smearing the Jewish state with defamations similar to those used for centuries to vilify individual Jews,” he continued.
There are anti-Semitic haters in Congress, too, and not coincidentally, they are all Democrats — including Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, who is of Palestinian descent.
What is head-scratching, however, is that an overwhelming majority of American Jews are Democrat voters, according to the Pew Research Center, proving again that Democrats are part of a cult, not a political party.
Why else would you vote for people who demonstrably hate you?
