A 30-year-old man from Iowa has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after he was convicted of committing a “hate crime” by stealing an LGBTQ “rainbow” flag from a local “church” and burning it in front of a strip club.
Adolfo Martinez reportedly took the multi-colored emblem of sexual deviancy from Ames United Church of Christ on July 11, 2019. He then proceeded to burn it with lighter fluid in front of the nearby Dangerous Curves Gentleman’s Club.
Initially, Martinez was charged as he would have been had he stolen something other than an LGBTQ flag. But because LGBTQs are now a protected class in the United States, his charges were trumped up because he was “suspected of criminal mischief against someone’s property because of ‘what it represents as far as sexual orientation,” according to Story County attorney Jessica Reynolds.
In other words, Martinez was pursued more aggressively than normal because the “Pride” brigade was the target of his crimes, which the state ruled were driven by “hate.”
“Would stealing an American flag and setting it on fire earn anyone prison time?” asked one Twitter user in response to this news. “Absolutely not.”
“Why does the left cheer when the American flag is burned?” asked another. “No one goes to jail for that, but they do for burning an activist movement’s flag?”
“He should have burned the American flag,” wrote yet another. “Then, he would have been praised, statues dedicated.”

As you may recall from several years back, a jury in San Francisco actually acquitted an illegal alien murderer even after he admitted to taking the life of a legal American citizen in cold blood.
José Inez García Zárate, as this illegal alien is called, reportedly shot and killed 32-year-old Kathryn Steinle while she was walking along Pier 14 in the Embarcadero district of San Francisco with her father. Zárate had previously been deported eight different times.
But because San Francisco, and now much of the U.S., is a “sanctuary” zone for criminal aliens, Zárate was let off the hook by a bleeding-heart jury that apparently felt sorry for him because he’s “undocumented.” Meanwhile, a legal American citizen is going to prison for a long time simply for burning an inanimate object, which made some LGBTQs upset.
“Wow, he got more years than murders get in the U.K. … unbelievable!” wrote one Twitter commenter from England about Martinez’s ridiculous sentence.
“So burning a rainbow flag is ‘hate speech,’ but burning an American flag is ‘freedom of speech.’ I see …” wrote yet another.
Sadly, this is the type of situation we’ve come to expect in today’s America, where “no human being is illegal” except for those who disagree with the agenda of the LGBTQ mafia. You can murder Americans as an illegal alien and be completely let off the hook, but don’t you dare touch that “rainbow” flag because that would be a “hate crime.”
“[Sixteen] years for the theft and destruction of a $40 flag seems harsh, but I tremble to think of the far worse punishment that may await the leader of that congregation, who is teaching her people that God rejoices in their sin and degradation. James 3:1,” wrote one LifeSiteNews commenter about Ames United Church of Christ “Reverend” Eileen Gebbie, who’s listed on the “church” website as its “Senior Minister.”
In her photo (at least as of this writing), Gebbie is seen wearing an LGBTQ “rainbow” sash as part of her clergy apparel.
