Google has been turned into a Left-wing snowflake “echo chamber” that crushes diversity of thought, warns engineer in 10-page memo

Those on the Left constantly preach about “diversity” and “equality” and the freedom to be who and what you want to be — but they don’t really mean it. What they mean is, you are ‘free’ to choose to be who they want you to be, but anything outside of that is disallowed, disavowed, and attacked.

That helps explain why a one-time engineer for Google is now a former engineer for Google: He had the gall — the gall, mind you — to speak his mind and point out some truths that the snowflakes who inhabit both the rank-and-file at Google as well as its upper management didn’t find particularly enlightening or enjoyable.

As reported by Breitbart News, the tech-and-media behemoth appears to have no shortage of “SJWs” — social justice warriors — who use their mighty keyboards to lash out at those who dare to think differently and be different than them. That includes lashing out at the engineer, James Damore, after he penned a 10-page memo calling out his company’s “anti-conservative bias” and challenging the company’s (and the Left’s) assumptions that “gender gaps” in certain industries and areas of expertise “imply sexism.” (Related: ‘Don’t be evil’ Google fires an employee who dared question the company’s Left-wing hate.)

The memo, titled, “Google’s Ideological Echo Chamber,” went viral after being published in its entirety by the tech web site Gizmodo. Damore began his memo very non-provocatively though it wasn’t taken that way (in fact, you could say that many Google SWJ’s reacted just the way Damore said they shouldn’t):

I value diversity and inclusion, am not denying that sexism exists, and don’t endorse using stereotypes. When addressing the gap in representation in the population, we need to look at population level differences in distributions. If we can’t have an honest discussion about this, then we can never truly solve the problem. Psychological safety is built on mutual respect and acceptance, but unfortunately our culture of shaming and misrepresentation is disrespectful and unaccepting of anyone outside its echo chamber. Despite what the public response seems to have been, I’ve gotten many personal messages from fellow Googlers expressing their gratitude for bringing up these very important issues which they agree with but would never have the courage to say or defend because of our shaming culture and the possibility of being fired. This needs to change.

He also noted: “Only facts and reason can shed light on these biases, but when it comes to diversity and inclusion, Google’s left bias has created a politically correct monoculture that maintains its hold by shaming dissenters into silence.”

That led to Googler freak-out, as Breitbart noted, adding that in the memo, Damore went on to argue that women are not underrepresented in certain fields because of overt discrimination, but rather because there are inherent psychological differences between the sexes that the Left both refuses to acknowledge and demands be ignored.

What likely also infuriated the SJWs and Google managers was Damore’s claim that he’s far from the only employee at the company who believes the culture is restrictive and authoritarian in its demands for one-sided ideological compliance.

Damore’s ‘upsetting’ memo led to a response from Danielle Brown, the company’s vice president of Diversity, Integrity, and Governance, who laid out plainly Google’s Left-wing bias and demand for compliance.

“Many of you have read an internal document shared by someone in our engineering organization, expressing views on the natural abilities and characteristics of different genders, as well as whether one can speak freely of these things at Google,” she wrote. “And like many of you, I found that it advanced incorrect assumptions about gender. I’m not going to link to it here as it’s not a viewpoint that I or this company endorses, promotes or encourages.”

Her next line is even more hypocritical: “Diversity and inclusion are a fundamental part of our values and the culture we continue to cultivate. We are unequivocal in our belief that diversity and inclusion are critical to our success as a company, and we’ll continue to stand for that and be committed to it for the long haul.”

Except, of course, when employees deviate from the acceptable script.

Only a Left-wing “progressive” thinks excluding someone for their beliefs and opinion is inclusive.
