Economic sabotage against pro-America voices escalates; VISA / Mastercard declare war on Horowitz’ Freedom Center

Sunday, August 26, 2018 by

As the Trump era progresses, the Left continues to punish his supporters by deplatforming their voices on social media and harming their businesses by denying them access to financial services.

The latest assault has been launched against the David Horowitz Freedom Center, which recently had their donation processing system “blocked by Visa and Mastercard allegedly following a campaign by the Southern Poverty Law Center,” Breitbart News reported.

The SPLC, which is nothing but a Left-wing hate and intolerance factory, is increasingly being legitimized by Marxist Democrats and their supporters in government, academia, and the private sector as some ‘on the up-and-up’ non-partisan organization. It’s anything but that.

Breitbart reported:

The David Horowitz Freedom Center stated in a recent email that its ability to accept donations by credit card has been disabled by both Visa and Mastercard following a campaign by the SPLC to label the Freedom Center as a hate group. This situation comes shortly after Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch was forced off the funding platform Patreon following pressure from Mastercard.

The center is obviously the latest SPLC target, which works with the Left to deplatform and defund conservative pro-Trump groups, businesses, and organizations. In an email to supporters, David Horowitz detailed how the bigoted SPLC managed to persuade Visa and Mastercard – two of the world’s biggest financial firms that handle the lion’s share of transactions – to block his center from being able to receive payments from like-minded supporters of the center’s policies and efforts, as though it doesn’t have a ‘right’ to exist.

To bypass the Visa/Mastercard boycott, Horowitz is urging donors to send their contributions to a Post Office box. But make no mistake, what the SPLC, Visa, and Mastercard, collectively, are doing “could be the end of the Freedom Center,” Horowitz said in an email to supporters.

“Decades of work, down the drain because the hateful Left wants to squash free speech and silence an organization that dares question them,” he added.

In a statement to Breitbart, Horowitz described the SPLC as a “Left-wing hate machine.”

This isn’t going to get better without congressional action

“We have been attacked by the left-wing hate machine whose goal is to suppress and silence conservative voices. This is the work of a Soros funded Media Matters and Southern Poverty Law Center operation. It’s cynical, calculated and supported by the Democratic Party,” he said, adding that Visa and Mastercard cut off their donation system access because they believed the SPLC when it told them the center was a “hate group.”

Leftists always accuse others of what they are doing.

That said, Horowitz wasn’t critical of the financial firms. He told Breitbart that it was “wrong” to focus on them “because as businessmen they have a vested interest in keeping their platforms politically neutral.”

He added, “They have been threatened by Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and other Democrats if they don’t censor conservatives.”

No doubt that Horowitz is merely being politically pragmatic. It’s abysmal what these tech companies are doing, and no, they’re not simply being ‘talked into it’ by a real hate factory, the SPLC. After all, the Democratic National Committee takes credit card donations via Visa, Mastercard – and Discover and American Express – and it doesn’t get any more ‘political’ than a political party, right? For that matter, so does the Republican National Committee.

Not only that, but it’s beyond reason to believe that neither Visa nor Mastercard couldn’t assign someone to check out the Horowitz Center’s work and determine that while it may pursue conservative political policies and legislation, it obviously is not a “hate group.”

Conservatives are not supposed to back increased government regulation, but in an era where the Left gets to force Christian bakers out of business for living their beliefs, it’s time for the GOP Congress to step in and enforce fairness rules that prohibit arbitrary censorship and deplatforming of conservative media, businesses, and organizations. Otherwise, it’s just going to get worse.
